When I was asked by Janet for some pictures , photos or memories about Mum I have to say that 1001 wee stories came to mind. I tried to filter them in my head and I came to the conclusion that to single out one or two or even all 1001 would sell Mum short. So these words will only touch the surface of what My Mum was, is and always will be.
She and Dad were and are the ones I could count on for the things that matter the most. She is :-
- The tucker inner who left you all comfy and half asleep
- The warm towel when you stood shivering just out of the bath
- The presence that made any injury feel better by just being there
- The purveyor of a quiet common sense when my world went mad
- A thick vein of patience and forgiveness particularly for a stroppy and very very messy teenager
- The person who challenged my more strident arguments with sense and understanding
- The person who has put up with my friends coming to stay without complaint
But most of all, she has always been there for me.
And now on her 80th birthday as a son for 50 years I say raise your glasses and give
3 hearty cheers in salute of
MY MUM! 🙂
